This chap was apparently head of Iran’s nuclear programme which has long been suspected by America , Israel , Saudi Arabia , The EUROPEAN Union and the UN as a means for them to build bombs and threaten the region .

Now it seems the top Iranian scientist in charge , has been taken out . Whilst stuff like this has happened before , the information coming out of Iran by some Iranian journalists about how it was done , seems like James Bond type stuff .

In summary this guy was travelling in an armed 3 car convoy accompanied by his 10 armed Iranian revolutionary bodyguards .

Mossad had been tracing him for over a year with some help apparently from inside Iran .

Mossad had a 12 man team on the hit that involved knowing exactly where the convoy was going to pass , setting up a remote controlled car bomb in an empty car by the side of the road that took out the first car in the convoy then 2 other cars with Mossad agents and two motorcycles with Mossad agents were involved in. Firefight . The scientist was shot several times and the 12 Mossad members then disappeared confident he was dead or dying , not interested in trying to kill any of the bodyguards , although not sure if any were killed in the firefight .

A military Iranian helicopter came to take the scientist to the local hospital but hadn’t reckoned on the Mossad team who had cut the electricity supply in that region . By the time they had got him to Tehran main hospital he was dead .

I’m not going to comment on the wrongs or rights of targeted assassinations in foreign countries but it is amazing how much planning and detail has gone into this .

I guess when the Israel PM told the worlds press to remember this chaps name , a couple of years ago , it wasn’t an idle threat ..

I wonder if Britain has ever gone to this type of trouble to take out a huge threat to our country ?

Interestingly no western govt seems to have publicly criticised this assination

From the Beeb:

Mark Fitzpatrick, an associate fellow with London's International Institute for Strategic Studies who follows Iran's nuclear programme closely, also tweeted: "Iran's nuclear program is long past the point when it is dependent on a single individual".
