Just watched this on BBC iPlayer. Brilliant fact based drama.

Drama about the 1970 trial of the "Mangrove Nine" who were charged with inciting a riot. The Mangrove was a Caribbean restaurant in Notting Hill which was a gathering place for the local black community which was subjected to repeated racially motivated police harassment and raids throughout the 1970s and 80s until it was finally forced to close in 1992.

All the central characters are real including a young Darcus Howe who was one of the "Nine" and who brilliantly defended himself. Even the extremely racist PC Frank Pulley who was at the centre of the harassment was a real life character.

If you enjoyed or were moved or angered by the BBC drama "Sitting in Limbo" about the Windrush scandal then you'll like this. Will also appeal to those who enjoyed the recent Netflix film "The Trial of the Chigaco 7".

The Mangrove 9 trial was held just one year later and touches on similar themes of radicals targeted by the establishment. The main obvious difference was that only one of the Chicago 7 was black so their prosecution wasn't racially motivated. All of the Mangrove 9 were black and their prosecution was definitely racially motivated.
