How the heck did Lewes women get in amongst all that PL club exalted company? Pretty good effort anyway.

Good weather up there. Could really do with a positive result here. But scrappy in the first few minutes. Both teams pressing the ball.

An aside, Polly Bancroft who is the Brighton Women’s General Manager was interviewed on The Albion Roar this weekend. She’s a very smart, eloquent and engaging individual and well worth a listen.

Fiskerstrand is doing well in goal for us today. We're still looking nervous in defence - Bowman got lucky dwelling on the ball then

Great determination from Jarrett!

And we should've had a second straight after from Kaagman! Come on Albion!

Scrappy much needed 3 points. Great bustle from Jarrett, solid goalkeeping fom Fiskerstrand, Lee looks a good loan prospect and we should have scored that one-on-one.

Tense moments at the end, but we held out for a confidence boosting win! Fiskerstrand my player of the match as she was very solid to keep out any chances for West Ham.

An excellent win away from home for Albion Women.

Despite less possession and fewer shots on or off target, they got the all-important goal.

Relegation was always unlikely with Bristol City currently leaking 4.5 goals on average per game, but a 6th place and thus top half finish is still very possible.

Setup is pretty professionally run - much more so than the men’s side. Players are mostly part-time of course (have to go full time in WSL but not the championship) but the rest is well established. Funding in the championship is an issue - some of the teams have gone full time and have (comparatively) big budgets so it’s quite difficult for them to compete.
