I see that Her Majesty has confirmed that she will abide by the rule of 6 at Christmas with only herself, Philip, Charles, Camilla, William and Kate attending.

Does this mean that they are cooking the meal themselves or are servants who are dishing up food and plonk over your shoulder exempt from the 6?

Perhaps the staff will be considered like those waiting and kitchen staff in hotels and restaurants.

Perhaps. And perhaps it is just different rules for them and us. So it would be ok to have 6 family at mine and then get Caterers in to prepare and serve it?

If you could afford it I dare say it would because they wouldn't be part of that 6 unless they were sitting down and eating.with you

Sage expecting the rule of 6 to be in place until after Christmas this year at least and some lesser restrictions may become permanent.

Even when lockdown is eased, the rule of six will need to be in force until Christmas, he warned.

He told ITV’s Peston Show: “We are going to have to be under some restrictions for some time.”

He said all Brits will need both their jabs before restrictions can be torn up totally.

And the PM’s official spokesman fuelled fears the reopening of schools could be delayed.

Very, very unlikely IMO......and Ferguson in particular has been hugely discredited due his his previous modelling. Some restrictions - yes, absolutely, think we all get that. Rule of six until Christmas ? Not if current trends continue and the vaccine works as hoped (the article actually states the views are dependent on this). Won’t be justifiable at all.

Yes. If current trends continue and vaccination proceeds apace, this ends. Carefully, but it ends.

It's starting to seriously grate that the MSM continue to give Ferguson a platform for his constant gloomy Mystic Meg schtick. And SAGE should, as their name suggests, be advising. In private.

I suspect that even if coronavirus were eliminated from the face of the earth, he would still like to ensure the permanent separation of grandparents from their grandchildren in case someone gets a nasty cold.

Maybe we should have a new government manifesto - "Better to live 100 years in misery than 99 years of joy". Something like that.

What worries me is that there are people in government who genuinely will want a lockdown for a winter flu season. Now that they think they can pass laws that give them power over life and death, who will stop them?

Back to the Rule of Six outdoors from March 29th. Beer gardens not open until April 12th but Rule of Six tinnie gatherings outside will be possible when the clocks change.

Isn't it 2 households, so not really rule of 6?

You can have more than six, but only from two households. More than two households sees Rule Of Six apply.
