The first one I fell in love with was Steptoe and Son.............

I’m presently watching Dads Army.

I loved that. Ronnie Barker is our finest comedy actor we’ve ever had.
Arthur Lowe brilliant as well.

Just watched the interaction between Maniwaring and Wilson when it becomes knowledge that Wilson has the title ‘Honourable’ before his name.

Probably get shot down in flames, but early My Family...

Failing that the politically incorrect Rising Damp!

Didn’t care for Rising Damp originally but always watch it if around now. It’s deliciously not PC.

1). Dad's Army
2). Not the Nine O'Clock News
3). The Good Life
4). WKRP in Cincinatti (1st. two series)
5). Blackadder Goes Forth

Monty Python brilliant at the time, but hasn't worn well.

OK, sorry - Not The Nine O'clock News wasn't a sit com.
Put Porridge in their somewhere then, or Drop the Dead Donkey.

Fawlty Towers
Frasier
Getting On
Butterflies
The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin
The Office
The Thick Of It (more satirical and aggressive!)

Some of the above beyond the laughs, were also bitter sweet.

Sadly none of the above for me - although Fawlty Towers was alright, if not quite essential viewing.

S'all about opinions, innit?

The original idea of the show was to have a platoon with a " laid back " Captain and a very bombastic Sergeant and the interaction between the two.... they decided to reverse the roles and the rest ... is history ...... Always love the calm, deliberate Sergeant Wilson rolling his eyes and saying " Are you sure that's wise Captain ? " ............................and, interestingly, eventually they DID do a sit-com with a laid back Captain and a bombastic Sergeant , it was It Ain't Half Hot Mum .

I didn’t think anyone else would remember and include Butterflies. Brilliantly written and acted.

Yep..........got drawn into watching it by my mum......think she liked the ‘trapped free-spirit’ that was played by Wendy. I liked the two lads though........a very young Nick Lyndhurst and Adam Hall I think

I think Frasier is the best sit com ever made. Both it and Seinfeld are still rewatchable and great. Though not sitcoms the thing I laugh at the most now are probably various UK panel shows.

Fawlty Towers - just brilliantly written and acted throughout.

Only Fools and Horses
Father Ted

One Foot In The Grave
Porridge

would probably be my Top 5. Agree with a previous comment that Ronnie Barker was a quite brilliant actor and his and RB’s comic timing were class. I loved The Office but found some of it excruciating. Unsurprisingly mine all date from the 70s -90s - Derry Girls is my fave recent comedy but I also loved Detectorists.
