MANY CLUBS talk about the importance of the wellbeing of their staff and players, but only one has ingrained this within their performance department.

Brighton have a Performance Psychology and Wellbeing department, with staff dedicated to the promotion of health and happiness within the club.

Murray gave a specific example about one player she had been working with.

“What we picked up on was that he was tweeting very late, at 2 or 3am, and that there was something in the messaging that made us wonder whether everything was ok.

“It turned out he was experiencing heightened anxiety, sleep issues he had never had before, negative emotions.

“There is never just one person who is going to be the best support, so we had a multi-disciplinary support meeting and put a plan in place to best support his training and how he was feeling. This messaging was relayed to the staff.

“The player is now back in a much better space.”

Great to read that. Interesting that it was also something pushed by Ashworth - showing another bit of his worth for the club there.

Young (or youngish) person stopped from Tweeting late at night? That's outrageous! Human rights awareness courses urgently required!

If, as reported, Ryan Sessignon has been experiencing issues with shyness, which have affected his performance, perhaps he'd welcome the chance spend a season here?

Great read. Was really impressed and relieved to know these resources are not only there but also pro-active.

Whether it be the impact of social media or settling into the club from a foreign country I'm sure these young players need all types of support.

And I've no doubt the benefit of being in a good headspace is playing with confidence.

I love our club and the background org.

Perhaps the wellbeing staff could have a few sessions with the moaners in the crowd, you never know we may get more fans actually supporting the team rather than being negative when we pass backwards or lose possession.

In fairness, its probably worth unfollowing Trump atm.
