I've just looked at their match report and it is very complimentary in general. But then I added up their player ratings for the starting elevens and they had it 71-70 in United's favour. Seriously?

As all football journalists will tell you, the player ratings they do mean absolutely nothing. They’re just a made up after thought on the end of their reports.

Media player ratings are always worked out in reverse, working backwards from the final score. This allows the journalist to appear clever.

He got five because anything higher would have made Brighton's score no lower than Man U's, thus rendering the exercise pointless.

The enthusiasm on SSN after United were allowed to take a penalty after the game had ended was unabashed - they were thrilled! The scouse girl couldn't stop grinning!
