We achieved 1 of just 3 clean sheets in this round of games. Not bad considering everyone is saying that attack is dominating.

Too early to say a lot, first couple (and last couple) of matchdays are usually more goal rich than during mid-season but I think its quite likely that but regardless of that I think the usual 2.5-2.6 average goals per game is quite likely lower than it will be this season, perhaps reaching Bundesliga numbers of 3 goals per game.

Plenty of reasons for that but mainly its because some back fours look extremely weak, especially the ones of the newcomers but also just in general. The Brighton back line is easily top 5 this year.

Long paywalled article in Times today covering the goalfest. Conclusions in summary (their headlines)

Keepers in crisis: some sad stat (XGoT) that says strikers are no better at converting than last season but keepers have let in 17 more than expected; only 3 keepers out of 20 have positive goals prevented. Ryan is on -1.34, but god knows which of Chelsea's goals he should have saved (plus 1/3 of one of the others...):

High defensive lines breached easily: Saints, say no more;

Penalty bonanza: 11/67 goals have been pens with 2 misses. 0.69 pens per game so far compares with long-term average of 0.25. Naive defending and punitive handball decisions contributed;

Overadventurous full backs: Kenny Tete sole example.

Someone on twitter yesterday, pointed out that in 121 top flight seasons, only once before (in 1891/92) has there been no draws after 2 rounds of fixtures.

"And the dividend forecast is....very good"

(one for the kids there)

I’m a Ryan-sceptic but even I balked at that stat. How is he have supposed to have saved 1.34 more goals than he did?

Bound to be more goals given the very poor defensive tactics employed by some teams.

The very high line by Southampton was suicidal, where the only suprise was that Spurs didn't get double figures.
