He's certainly got your goat hasn't he....:lolol: Brexit is possibly the biggest example of divide and conquer/smoke and mirrors in contemporary history. It is difficult to see much benefit from isolating yourself from a major trading block particularly with all the red tape here there and everywhere , the fact that our kids will find it a lot harder to travel to , remain in and work in a host of European countries , my personal view is that Brexit is a massive mistake , it has been voted for by the people who it will effect the least and as if it wasn't going to be hard enough you are all battling / living with covid which , i would say is bound to surge in the colder , darker, wetter months.....it really is all rather depressing, i wonder if Bojo has the minerals to admit it's a massive mistake and repeat the vote.....one could have said that something so important should have at least been the best of 3 spread over a 5 or 6 year period.

Yes. I find the mix of wrongness and triumphalism to be most peculiar :wink:

As far as the rest of your comments are concerned, of course I agree 100%. Presently we have an unprecedented energy 'crisis' with at least 4 'energy' companies going bust and this is apparently due to 'unprecedented demand'. What*? We also have wildfire shortages of supermarket goods. This is blamed on supply chain problems due to a shortage of delivery drivers due to British people unwilling* to take the tests necessary to get the specialist driving licence. And we have unprecedented shortages of building materials and massive price hikes on what is available, apparently due to problems in the supply chain*. That old supply chain, eh? Fragile as a Lamptey hamstring, it seems.

Meanwhile the benefits of Brexit are.....erm, well there is the Freedom. And the new arms deal with Australia!

*It's Brexit, isn't it?

And if you mention this a certain sort will laugh and call you a sour loser who should get over it, and link you to a fake news website. And people wonder why I get a bit cross? ??? :lolol:

:thumbsup:

Just to correct you and give the reason why it was cancelled;

It involved Canberra cancelling a £72.8 billion deal with the French for diesel-electric submarines and pursuing a rival plan to acquire nuclear-powered boats with help from the US and Britain instead.

It was a signed contract , not a " deal " there is scepticism as to wether or not some sort of lawsuit will be filed against the govt. one which the tax payer will have to foot , that was my point , shithead politicians are a global problem currently , Morrison has now jumped on a plane the the US whilst the rest of Australia can go , well , nowhere.

Deisel / Acid lead battery , whatever that is. Quieter than nuclear by some way apparently.

Meanwhile numerous Ports , Airports and huge cattle stations are on 100 year leases to Chinese consortiums who are also put out by Aus getting super pally with US......Morrison is a ****ing embarrassment.

The whole point is Diesel/electric only have a limited range before needing to return to port for refuelling, whereas nuclear powered subs never need to. It's this that's now concerning the Chinese.

Unfortunately we elect them and the adage that people get the governments they deserve is compelling.

What I think has happened over the last 40 years or so is that more and more of the middle and lower 'classes' have got sufficiently better off that they have taken their eye off the ball. When I left the UK in 82 it was still turbulent with the Thatcher experiment underway and lots of concerned others agitating about exploitation and removal of worker 'rights'. Now, far too many people have enough food in their belly and a roof over their head (rented, perhaps, but a better roof than 1970s roofs) and have allowed themselves to be agitated by imaginary threats (the EU being a classic example - people in Bolton selecting to vote Tory to 'get Brexit done' is absurd). Meanwhile the power elite pursue their own agenda that may or may not coincide with the interest of the herd....People like me (home paid for, nice pension) can pretend, if we want, that nothing really matters and everything is fine. I can sneer at fake news-addicted loonies if I can be bothered. Unfortunately I fear we have a genuinely useless PM now in charge and any sort of chaos may ensue....

Mate...Australia and China have had numerous mutual and very profitable business concerns over the last 30 years or so , Morrison has done what would appear to be irreparable damage with his pro American , anti- Chinese rhetoric to the point where he said on national news before jetting off to sit down with Biden that China was a threat and that war with them should be considered anything but impossible and how it is duty whilst while he is prime minister to keep Australians safe ....just utter bullshit pouring out of his stupid cake hole seeing as by the time we take possession of said subs he will be long gone , he has become a very unpopular p.m in recent times and with an election needing to be called by next May he is trying everything possible to regain popularity.

The seafood , wine , cotton , grain and now mining industries will bear the brunt , the cost of which is running into billions in lost earnings , from being unable to sell product to China.

Picking up on the theme, I wonder if Brexit voters in the country as whole have the minerals to admit it's a massive mistake.

It takes guts to admit to an error of judgement.....
