Villa spending 17 million on a reserve GK... and Macc Town going under for the want of 500k... itís absolutely criminal. The first of many more (see Bury) clubs sadly ... the game is absolutely destroying itself with money on every level and at every level.
Two dice, a pencil and an eraser are all you need to make your journey... page 400 at last. Rest ye weary traveller.

Southend given a stay of execution till 28th October.

The Shrimpers aim to settle the debt through refinancing, with 502 homes planned to be built on Roots Hall when they move to their Fossetts Farm site.

In April they said an agreement to build a new stadium*had been reached.

Can't really think of a workable solution for this. If lower league clubs know there is a safety net or bailout package, then what does that mean for responsibly run clubs? And how does it prevent bad owners.
900k people in Bromley & Croydon, almost double pop of Manchester. Bigger than Norwich & Ipswich. Fickle fans in terms of attendance, cup games increased attendance do not help.

Surely that new ground development has gone on longer now than our fight for Falmer. Personally canít see how that can be viable for a club like Southend.

Sad news regarding Macclesfield. Remember going up there to watch the Albion in early 2000. Kuipers at full stretch earnt us a share of the spoils. Enjoyed the company their friendly supporters in a nearby boozer, post match.

Hopefully they can regroup and come again.

The answer could be a % of TV money is held in a fund. It can only be allocated by independent panel to clubs facing extinction and only on the basis that any debts covered results in a majority shareholder transfer to fan ownership.

Never used between one dodgy chancer to another. Only by allowing majority fan control.

But then what? How does majority of fan ownership guarantee investment into a club? Or that even fan ownership is the right kind of model

It doesn't. A business would still need a viable business plan, it wouldn't stop a club again going extinct in future.

But it would buy time, clear immediate debts and put club Into the hands/administration of those who'd care the most about its survival in the community, it's fans. It would give it a second chance in the hands of those with the biggest vested interest, rather than pulling the rug from under their feet (bury and very nearly us).

When you read this well researched article it was the death of a club waiting to happen. But who's to blame? The EFL?

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
