Do you honestly think Southgate’s Palace connection is the reason for Dunks omission from the squad ?
Southgate grew up in Sussex , so maybe has a soft spot for you

It's clearly not his Palace connection but his omission of certain players for not entirely clear reasons in favour of others is hard to stomach.

I presume you feel the same about Wan-Bissaka's lack of opportunity.

Dier being picked as a CB is ridiculous - You may as well have picked him to be 4th choice GK for all the use he will be. Mings is a disaster waiting to happen in every game I see him play and Maguire is in a Greek nick eating Porridge whilst trying to avoid big Stavros in the showers.

On that basis - and after the best season he could have had - he will never, ever, get in the squad with Southgate in charge.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

His stats for the game he won his single cap against USA.

67% aerial duels won
100% tackles won
2 interceptions
96% pass completion
ENG 3 - 0 USA

No wonder he was dropped following that horrific debut.

Why would I care about a Man Utd player ?
We brought him through, gave him his chance, which he grabbed with both hands, and then got a very good offer to sell .
He is without doubt the best tackler in this country, but having TAA in front of him will limit his opportunities.

Seem to remember he rushed forward rashly at one point and was left for dead. Pretty sure the opponents in question was Pulisic which, with hindsight, makes it more of an understandable error. Really the only thing I can recall him doing wrong in that game and thought he was a shoo-in for another opportunity. It's all very weird.

Probably unlikely. Didn't massively shine in the chance he got unfortunately.

For me he is fringe , i dont see the massive uproar personally. He isnt far away .

Could possibly still get a call up

The obsession with error strewn Keane (Everton fans aren’t happy with him) and similarly Mings, sadly means probably not. Hopeless Stones too ... so often lets Guardiola down.

Football experts always talk about WC and EC winners having great defences eg Greece or France at the last WC (they stifled a brilliant Belgium team).

So GS’s tunnel vision on CB’s will likely cost us.

Because he's Palace youth... Surely you want to see him succeed? Genuinely a bit stumped that you don't want to see "one of your own" go on to do well.

There are 3 RBs in the current squad, there is probably an argument he deserves to displace one of Trippier and Walker on recent performances.

Its hard to be sure that I am objective about this, but I wouldnt want any of Mings/Maguire/Keane at our club instead of Lewis Dunk. I can concede that Maguire has at least been part of a Manchester United team that has performed well since January and played some European Football. However Mings and Keane have been crucial members of teams that have notoriously under-performed. Mings has been an integral part of one of the worst defences in the PL who are only still in the league because of VAR ! It absolutely flies in the face of "play well and you will get your chance".

Of course I want him to do well, but he’s not our concern now, we move on.
We’ve got 2 young kids now at left/ right back, and I’m really looking forward to them hopefully establishing themselves in our first team this season.

A one cap wonder.

There would seem to be an age barrier, in that if you are not an established England international with at least 30 caps by the age of 28 you are not getting selected.
A clear preference to bring younger players in.

Not under Southgate. ANYBODY ELSE he walks into the side. Even if he has the most unreal season he still won't get in because Southgate specialist in **** ups doesn't like us. Coady, Grealish also should be in that team. No left backs included but Burnley Leftback Charlie Taylor had a very good season also not included. Southgate won't be there much longer if he carries on like this.

Coady and Tarkowski will both be ahead of him, and rightly so IMO. They should both be in this squad.

Unfortunately, when you take the blue and white glasses off, Dunk just isn't quite at a high enough level. (I don't think others are either, btw.) Southgate has called him up before, but he clearly did not impress enough. I actually think Webster & White will have a better chance of getting a call up before Dunk.

I think that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Not good enough when Dier, Keane and Mings are all in there. Behave. Best English centre back there is by a long way.
