As you may know I am writing a story about a young kid growing up in Brighton in the 90s.

Trouble is my memory is so shoddy of these times. So at this time what is a 16 year old into indie/shoegaze etc wearing.

I remember old skool trainers gazelles etc

Stripy t shirts. Long sleeve baggy t shirts.

Kind of baggy jeans (not full on like other years) different colours. Red and green?

Coats?? What coats were we wearing... Or wish we were wearing?

Probably best to look at some early 90's bands to get some inspiration.

Not a bad idea. Some mates have been posting old photos of us but not often wearing coats :lolol:

Also struggling to remember exact years.

Certainly 1996 the ‘in’ colour was lime green. Early 90s though was shell suits and multi coloured hoodies - maybe even dungarees.

I don’t get the relevance of a photo of an amputees’ 7-a-side football team?

Actually, there is fashion and there is fashion, innit?

White v neck T shirt, black leather jacket, black straight leg Levis, natural or turned up to reveal Black DMs (the only acceptable footware). Hair, rockabilly cut without gel. Never gel. If you can't sustain a bit of a quiff without gel you just have shit hair. Also, earrings (2 or 3) only in one ear. FFS, who wants to look like Rob Davis of Mud?

Joe Bloggs jeans and global hyper colour T-shirt’s for the ravers!

Chevignon, C-17, Fiorucci (maybe), Ciao, Diesel for the slightly smarter lot

In the early 90's I would have mostly been seen in my school uniform or a black, red and purple shell suit(from C&A)or the 1990 England world cup shell suit.

I would also have had a magnificent step haircut. The undercut and curtains came in the mid 90's.

Based on the above description I think we can all agree I smashed it in the 90's.

I recently bought some of these as I always wanted them when I was at school but could never afford them.
Champion or Fila boots were my go to footwear. Most clothes were baggy and curtain hair to show I was a raver.
