- No replays at any stage. Could prove to be a bit of a blow for the lower league sides who hope to get money-spinning replays.
- 3rd Round: Sat. 9th Jan
- 4th Round: Sat. 23rd Jan
- 5th Round: Wed. 10th Feb
- QF: Sat. 20th Mar
- SF: Sat. 17th Apr
- FInal: Sat. 15th May

Carabao Cup
- Semi-finals to be single leg
- First four rounds to be played throughout September
- 1st Round: Sat. 5th Sep
- 2nd Round: 15th/16th Sep
- 3rd Round: 22nd/23rd Sep
- 4th Round: 29th/30th Sep
- 5th Round: 22nd/23rd Dec
- SF: 5th/6th Jan
- Final: 28th Feb

This is a bit WEIRD - and IMO removes any faint possibility of us taking it seriously.

To get through to the business end, you're committing to playing EVERY midweek for a month, right at the start of the season?

Expect a deliberate first-round, third-strength capitulation like last year, then.

Fair enough for the season

If fifa ditched some of its pointless friendlies coming up it would have helped as well

About time. Should uave just scrapped the league cup altogether for good though.

would have thought the League cup could have been dropped, rather than squeeze in all those fixtures in September. if they must have something for the sponsors pick 8 teams from a hat and jump straigt to quarters.

or have a player from each team play on fifa/pro soccer. serious suggestion, would probably get more viewers for novelty.

I thought we had one of our better goes at this competition last season, as we won away at Bristol Rovers in the 2nd round before going out to the eventual cup runners up in round 3.

But you're right zero starters from the PL at the weekend will play in the midweek League Cup

Yes - LEEDS UNITED TO PARTICIPATE IN EFL TROPHY

(I haven't suddenly turned into a Leeds fan - the article includes a list of all the U-21 sides who will be participating).

Apparently the draw is next Tuesday, with the first matches on September 8/9.

The cups are income for two different organisations, neither will ever agree to lose that income.

Depending on the dates, in a normal season I presume we would have taken a fair few to Charlton to try and help them out financially in the situation that they’re in.

The u23s will be in every cup competition I should think
