Just sums up why everybody hates Leeds. Even today.

They've never been able to shake off that nasty cynical reputation they had under Don Revie. No idea if the portrayal of the players is accurate but it certainly fits in with everyone's perception of what they were like

That Revie side was by FAR the most accomplished - and most cynical - club side I ever saw in my life

Filmed in Eastbourne.

Not doubting you but curious to know which bits.

IMDB has this:

Part of this was filmed in Scarborough in Yorkshire where they pretended it was Brighton by using computer graphics to show the pier. In one scene filmed there they forgot to cover the machine to pay for parking which did not exist at that time.

And also mentions the locations used in Chesterfield and Leeds. But nothing locally.

I'm doubting me. I bow to your better knowledge.

The other evening we watched Days of the Bagnold Summer, Simon Bird's (briefcase w*nker) directorial debut. In which there's a shot looking up at the Shoreham flyover - filmed...

... just outside Shoreham.

Also cameo appearances for Exceat Bridge and a road at Beachy Head in the same sequence. They were taking quite an indirect route to whatever seaside town they were visiting.

Marvellously entertaining account of Cloughie's 44 day reign at Leeds United starring the very excellent Michael Sheen. Not surprisingly, the Albion feature quite heavily towards the start of the movie. Highly recommended
Listing on the TV guide is correct but they’ve got the snooker on.
Imagine my disappointment

Regardless of any artistic license it's an excellent film with great turns from Sheen and Spall. Plenty of comedy value not least from Stephen Graham as a very ' unlook a like ' Billy Bremner.

And Chief O'Brian as Revie!

It was definitely listed at 9 cos I did the sky plus recording thing. Listing said 9, snooker was on.
Snooker still on and now listed at 10 but has been mentioned, with a running time of 30 minutes

Yes. The film made out that Brighton is some geriatric retirement venue like St Petersburg in Florida. Very needless.

Also it portrayed the Leeds players as scruffy assassins. The problem with Leeds was the attempts at bribery initiated by the manager and some players. It was common knowledge at the time and was the real reason why Clough detested 'Mr Revie'. I remember Clough ranting on telly about stuff he knew and that if he said it on air the programme would be ended. The Leeds players were no more dirty than any team's, back then. They were much better, though.

Sheen was amazing, but....

Sorry Harry, have to disagree with you. Leeds were far more dirty than any teams back then. The difference is that other teams had dirty players, Leeds had a dirty team, the exception perhaps being the 1970 FA CUP final replay, arguably one of my favourite matches of all time. Leeds are no more then a dead fly on my windscreen to be brushed away now, but then I was a lad who hated them and their nasty northerner tactics. I loved it when they lost and, with a sister living in Chelsea, I had the perfect excuse to support the Southerners. The match was a thrilling North v South clash and apart from Albion matches, one of the few where I have been so passionate about supporting another team.
