[Travel] Accident on A27 road blocked both ways near Lewes

A prison van flipped over onto its roof earlier, so the A27 is blocked, both ways, between Southerham and Ashcombe Roundabout.
Likely to remain closed for another 4 hours.

The A259 is likely to be a pain as well, as the swing bridge is open at 4pm

I was in the traffic jam going westbound between the two Lewes roundabouts finally got turned round to go wrong way up the dual carriageway. Sounds like a bad accident

Thanks for the heads-up.

Mrs MJsGhost is going to be less than pleased - our car's aircon packed up at the weekend. It's booked in to be fixed tomorrow, but her journey home along the A27 tonight (thankfully eastbound) past Lewes doesn't sound like much fun :nono:

I've heard that the prison van was broken down at the side of the road and the lorry went into the back of it. You can see the crease down the front of the lorry where it hit the corner of the van. If it was an attempted break out it didn't go very well. All concerned were badly injured.
