How have our three seasons in the Premier League measured up against each other?

Home Performance

2018/19 19
2019/20 20

2017/18 25
2018/19 28
2019/20 27

2018/19 W9 D9 L20 Pts 36
2019/20 W9 D14 L15 Pts 41

Scoring goals

2019/20 39

Defending
2017/18 54
2018/19 60

If we'd managed to perform at home as we did in 2017/18, we'd have finished this season in 13th place on 48 points, one point behind Everton.

Edit: I see each section is in rank order rather than year order. Still a bit confusing.

Edit, actually it's fine.

Time I flushed the sand out of my undercarriage, perhaps.

I wish you done it in season order for each category

"Defending at home
2017/18 25
2019/20 27
2018/19 28

Away Performance
2019/20 W4 D7 L8 Pts 19
2018/19 W3 D4 L12 Pts 13
2017/18 W2 D5 L12 Pts 11"

It might help if you kept the years in the same order for ease of comparison.

Sorry - I was doing 1st, 2nd, 3rd - give me a few minutes...

No worries! It makes sense as it is (if one engages one's brain - ahem).

I actually like the order shows how we have improved, and where we have come from. Interesting to see We've let in the same as our first season, and less than last season, considering we have played more attacking football

So, our away form has vastly improved and our home form dipped a bit.

Resonates with the trope about the way people groan early on at home when we play it around the back and don't 'Get Rid Of It' like we did back in division three in 1971. The pressure being off, away.

Perhaps when the fans finally return we can all be a little more Positive and Informed about Potterball. FFS!

thought it was funny when commentators were commenting about our poor away form this season and only 4 wins if we hold on to the lead, well we hardly set the world alight at home did we so I wonder what sort of number they had in their heads?

We are still poor at defending corners and poor at capitalising on the ones we have, sort that out and we go up 3-4 places.

That’s possibly the most outlandish thing you’ve ever said on here, and you have quite the back catalogue.

Yes the summary is we are now capable of putting in a controlling performance away from home, picking up points even all 3 at times. (As opposed to hanging on for dear life backs to the wall Hughton style).

Although it looks like our home performances have suffered, I’d urge caution with that stat. We drew a lot of games this season where we were by far the better team. Not slightly, by far. Especially first half of the season.

If we become more clinical and convert some of those draws to wins, we will rocketing up the table. We’re not far off.
