Sadly passed away a couple of days ago

For those of you who like your rugby,will certainly remember him

I Certainly do. Just checked and he scored 8 tries in 32 appearances for England which is a bloody good return for the time. Being an England winger in the late 70’s/early 80’s was a thankless task.

Really classy player. I recall him scoring an amazing solo try on a Lion's tour, possibly in a mid-week game.

Good player - had some real pace. He played for Liverpool, not a rugby stronghold, and was part of Bill Beaumont's Grand Slam team.

He died rather young, only a few years older than I am.

Wow, sad news.

As a youngster I grew up watching France and Wales dominate the rugby Five Nations so England winning the Grand Slam in 1980 with Slemen in the squad was a memorable occasion. He was a classy player, he glided over the turf.

He scored a try against the All Blacks while representing the Northern Division in 1979

It was the All Blacks only defeat of the entire tour
