Interesting discussion with a friendly random in Twitter over where the 'North' starts.

I concluded a while ago that the crooked spire in Chesterfield was the entry point. I wonder if folk differ on this ?

Stoke on Toilet is seen as W/Mids. Crewe,Congleton and Macclesfield the N/west yet no mention of Leek yet a town on par with the others.

Always thought it was Watford Gap.
Coming home from away trips the M25 normally indicates I'm no longer north.

Chesterfield gets my vote too.Notts is midlands and that’s the next point up I’d consider northern.

Geographically, Yorkshire and Lancashire (including Greater Manchester).

Although if it’s the north-south debate, the north includes the West Midlands, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire.

Yeah, thereabouts. I'd personally say that it's at the Derbyshire/Yorkshire border, but that's only a couple of miles.

A lot of people who said the Watford Gap used to catually think that was Watford ! (including me in my younger days).
