I'm heartily sick of these threads. Same old suspects having a pop at the same old suspects. Who knew a left right poll would veer sharp left on NSC? I know - I don't have to read them, but everyone picks a spot sometime.

Any chance of a bear pit review within an hour of posting every new thread?

Except that almost every days brings some form of plumbing new depths for this country, be it worst Covid 19 deaths in the EU, Cummings, pressing ahead with Brexit and no deal, pissing on monuments, havig to board up Churchill statue, u--turn on meals for kids after campaign by footballer - the list really does go on.

Every day more shit and ineptitude. I thought it couldn't get worse than Theresa May - I thought wrong.

And yet listen to the daily updates from No10, and they're literally lining up to tell everyone how BRILLIANTLY they've handled this crisis. 41,000 deaths, the worst in europe, is apparently a right result. Without their wise guidance, it could have been 100k+, apparently.

Straight out of the Trump book of Evasive Bullshit and Outright Bollocks.

The voters were warned. They didn’t listen. Britain is dead. Or at least in a self induced coma until we can get the current government out.

The public have been gas lit over and over again to vote against their own interests. But this time more than ever they've really done it, ordinary folk are really going to get hurt

I would like to see your source. Can you provide a link please?

Off the top of my head; just a few days ago the government announced tariff schedules for January. The only agriculture allocation of tariff free quota for the whole schedule is for cane sugar. The sponsor of the Tory Party conference in 2018 plus a major donor to the party is....Tate and Lyle. Basically a straightforward subsidy to Tate and Lyle. Tate and Lyle were also major supporters of Brexit. Join the dots and all that.....

Here’s an example of how bad they are.

So many essential services not being funded. Even footballers are stepping in to cover the shortfall. And what does Boris think is a good way to spend £100,000 + ?

Why, painting the union flag on his plane. Of course.

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...raf-plane-for-vips-gets-a-union-jack-makeover

Complete load of tosh, it's due its major check and will be repainted as a matter of course whether in grey or white red blue or pink, the cost will basically the same. The schedule of maintenance dictates.

Cheers mate. A 1m rule is no rule and no point. I'll stick to my 2m MINIMUM rule and my hat, sunglasses and mask if forced to go in a shop.

Hmm. You’re missing the bigger picture.
See, this plane was commissioned at an enormous cost by Cameron. To offset that cost the plane had a dual purpose, to fly government officials and to be used by the RAF for Mid air refuelling and other transport tasks. This is why the plane was standard RAF colours.
Emblazoning it with the Union colours will make it unusable for any other task than to fly millionaire politicians about in.
Always worth reading the article before you comment.

Biased rubbish again the previous refuellers were white and one blue from memory. I know I worked on them

Agree poor by Conservative standards but still better than the option at the time that being communist Corbyn .

And that makes it OK? Christ. It's not Corbyn though is it, it's the Tories, who are looking increasingly inept as time goes on.

Why do people always say this?

'It's not Corbyn though'. So even though we have the Tories in power and the handling of the COVID outbreak has cost thousands of lives, at least we still don't have Corbyn in charge. Tragic.

A Tory could go around shooting people in the knees, as a policy and the dicks would still go “At least it’s no Corbyn” the thick duckers”

It’s sad that you don’t understand the difference between socialism and communism.

Anyway, if you were to measure this Government’s death-rates during the Covid-19 pandemic, it‘a difficult to imagine any other Government doing worse. There is a scandal almost everyday. I’m sure Corbyn would have locked down a lot earlier and that our death rate would be nearer Germany’s than Brazil’s.

However, I’ll grant you that the economic fallout would have been catastrophic under Corbyn. Just like the Tories are making lots of changes behind the cover of Covid-19, Corbyn would have gone into overdrive buying back all sorts of things like the rail network and energy companies. Whilst the second economic downturn due to Brexit would have been largely avoided, repairing the damage Corbyn would have done would take decades where as I’m certain Starmer can reverse most of what Johnson’s done and will do in the next Parliament with the exception of the huge death toll. That will be Johnson’s legacy I’m afraid. In terms of saving lives, there are perhaps a dozen MPs who could have done a worse job than Johnson - he is a vile human being.

Defending the indefensible. Boris wants an Air Force One. You know it, I know it.

I don’t think the RAF would use a plane with a union paint job but I defer to your experience on that point.

For too many years we've been giving taxpayers money (which is really yours and mine) to strange causes. We send aid to India - except that they've got their own space programme. We've equiped all sorts of strange dictators with state of the art palaces and aeroplanes. Boris is right about the 'great cashpoint in the sky' - we're the mugs who pay for it all and for too long this nonsense has gone on. Sure we should send aid to people who need it - Zimbabwe and South Africa are good examples where British aid is helping - but there needs to be a careful look at who receives aid from the UK and who really needs it.

That completely misses the point why this money is handed over, mostly in our time by right of centre governments. The government isn't Oxfam.

Back to the question, yes it's the most inept administration post 1979.

That itself is nothing about my "ideology", simply a matter of fact and circumstance. You've got:

1) A populist PM with no real political ideologically, beyond wanting to be PM and wanting to be liked. Expect policy to made up on the fly and major U-turns depending on the public mood.

He also has a habit of spending millions on vanity projects which mostly fail.

2) A very inexperienced Neo-Liberal cabinet with objectionable personalities. The gaps are filled by chancers. They need the "popular" Boris as a figure head because the party would never elect any of them on merit. Boris having dumped many experienced Tory MPs over Brexit is wholly reliant on whatever is left.

It's a marriage of convenience, a game of chess between Boris, Gove, Raab and Pritel. Gove is mates with Cummings, Pritel hates Cummings, Gove is always ready to stab Boris in the back. Raab is considered "Brexit pure" by the members, unlike Boris.

3) An ERG rumbling in the background who are firstly wondering why no-one calls anymore and secondly (favouring the economy over human life) are concerned at the humanitarian direction of the lock-down and public spending to prop up businesses.

4) A senior advisor (Cummings, who Boris can't function without) who has started a war on the civil service. A civil service the Government is wholly reliant on at the moment.

5) An opposition in disarray, until the election of Starmer.

It’s a free country and you can do as you please. Although I’d rather take advice from someone who has worked in ICU on a covid ward and in her words It was like WW3 at the height of the pandemic.
