They'll justify it all in that term he has used 'apparent bias' - that is - 'I wasn't influenced, but I can see how someone outside might think I could have been, so there's nothing to explain'. Dodgy all-round, but when legally advised like this, he's almost certain to get away with it.
Still strikes me as ironic that the housing minister responsible for getting enough houses built for the population, occupies three himself - thereby depriving two households of a property.

They believe rules and common decency are for the great unwashed voting public, while as elected officers they have free rein to do what they like and bugger the consequences...

Charges taxpayers £100,000 for a third home he hardly uses.
Now this and he won't answer questions in parliament about it.
Obviously a fine career as a Tory MP is now well into the ascendancy for The Right Honourable member for Newark and there's nothing to see hear as his integrity and probity is beyond reproach.

The issue being that they don't care what it looks like - that's only a perception.
All they need to do is hide the smoking gun, or pretend the smoking gun doesn't exist. Then they can claim they've done nothing wrong.
The bar for culpability gets higher and higher, and seeing as they lack a shame gene, it will rarely be cleared.
And the usual numpties on NSC will be up soon to offer some whataboutery.

And in the last few years they also promised to get rid of all those annoyingly hard-working Polish plumbers, Romanian fruit-pickers, Portuguese nurses and French entrepreneurs apparently clogging up our welfare system. It's not just brown faces they don't like....
