Yes, I've watched these programmes on the tele a few times. Interesting stuff, all that technology and all that - but why the f*** are they conveying it by road?

Allely's are brilliant at what they do, it's why whenever you see railway stuff moved by road it is usually them that are doing it. Normally they would plan the route to the very last detail and have to agree certain things before moving stuff like this, but apparently this bit wasn't planned due to a fire on the beach.

Sometimes it is cheaper and easier to chuck it on a low loader than it is to move it by rail, or if it is going for scrap it might not actually be possible to do it by rail, a lot of preserved railway lines aren't connected to the mainline either.
