But I thought we had been told time and again that Sweden was the model to follow? Those graphs can't be right!

Sweden have done significantly better than Spain, Belgium, UK, and Italy with minimal impact to the populations daily life throughout the whole year. How can people say that their strategy hasn’t been much better than ours? That’s right folks. Better than us with minimal impact on daily life throughout 2020.

Yes, and the UK would have done worse than the UK if it has Swedish levels of restrictions.

The table that just happens to exclude the incredible metrics of Sweden’s neighbours Denmark, Norway and Finland.

That’s right folks, per capita, their death tolls were tiny.

Bunch of quotes taken out of context.

"25 leading scientists"... most of them '' got absolutely nothing to do with viruses.

"25 leading scientists".. who said 100 000 were going to die before the summer.

and as usual, conveniently ignoring the lockdown countries with more deaths per 100k.

Maybe you got some video from David Icke as well to prove your point?

That said, the government today introduced the harshest rules so far, pretty close to a lockdown, because people did not react the same way to the second spike as they did this spring. People have stopped following the rules, meaning we are now going to adopt a strategy more similar to most nations.

No evidence that it works better, but going to be pretty nice to shut up all the foreigners stating a) Sweden rocks or b) Sweden sucks, when they really have no clue outside of what their favorite twitterer says.

Can only speak for myself but if the Swedes are happy with their government's approach then good luck to you. I just don't think it would have worked in this country.

Some are happy some are not happy, but the majority is in the "I dont really know" category which is pretty much the only realistic one.

Tegnell played down the criticism and said the recent lockdowns in Europe, which for the most part have been less strict than those in the spring, showed there was less of a difference in approaches to fighting the virus now.

“Most countries are now trying to do it a bit more like we have done in Sweden. Almost no one is closing schools now, for instance,” he said. “We have also learned a lot (from others), like doing targeted recommendations for different regions.”

Sweden is one of few countries in Europe that does not recommend or demand masks outside hospitals and care facilities. Tegnell said he had yet to see any good studies in favour of masks, despite it being recommended by the European Centre for Disease Control and many other health bodies.

“It’s fascinating how few studies there are on this,” he said. “And if you look at the countries with a strict rules for wearing masks, it’s difficult to see that they have fared well.”
