There have been a few references lately to The Lord of the Flies with that story emerging about the boys actually marooned on an island for 18 months. With the removal of the braying mobs on both sides and Starmer asking on the detail it does feel a bit like the arrival of the grown-ups at the end of the book.
It's a relief to see intelligent questions being asked. It should not be that difficult to provide intelligent and truthful answers.

I recommend anyone to go on YouTube and watch the exchange between Johnson and Starmer in PMQs today.
What interest me is the contrast between Corbyn and Starmer. Corbyn's criticism of May / Johnson was always presented with a socialist slant, and therefor Corbyn's words were inextricably linked with his political philosophy. Starmer, on the other hand, keeps the politics out of it and concentrates on exposing weakness in the government's words and deeds. This way, he denies the Tories the fall-back position of rallying their backbenchers by just having a go at Labour - which is something Theresa May did time and again when Corbyn would gain the upper hand.
Starmer is relentless, but what is encouraging is the way he applies logic. A Labour Party under his control is unlikely to be tupthumping and ideological, but have policy shaped by consideration and need. This makes his party more agreeable to the centre ground. There is a long road ahead before he'll get an opportunity to govern but eventually I could see him emulating Blair in 1997 and winning a GE with a thumping majority.
I look forward to see how he gets to grip with anti-semitism and Momentum.
