Great to see our youth system giving chances for players to start a career in professional football. Regardless of what people think about talent only being produced for the first team. This is without good news for the club in attracting young talent from across europe.
The not so good news is that presumably having released them we didn't get anything back for them. Obviously every youngster isn't going to be a diamond, but ideally surely the Academy needs to turn in a bit of profit, or at least generate some income towards the cost.

Good luck to all three lads anyway.

Agree and I think we'll soon see the first batch which we'll let go for decent money. No names mentioned, but I think there's a good few who we'd get a million here or a million there for. Sadly less than half of what we would have got without Covid.

The way I look at it money-wise, is "how much would we have to pay to get a White, Connolly, Alzate, Molumby, Walton equivalent on the transfer market now?" Then I think. "Yep it's paying for itself"

If they are any good there will be sell on fees we will be entitled to if they have been at our academy long enough.

We won't be entitled to a penny if we have released someone at the end of their contract.

We will that was brought in when players like Fabregas were being picked up when out of contract for nothing.

You are right that there will be no compensation for these thransfers as we did not offer them a contract but any future ones we will depending and it is complicated.

VII. Training compensation and solidarity mechanism

20 Training compensationTraining compensation shall be paid to a player’s training club(s): (1)when a player signs his fi rst contract as a professional, and (2)each time a professional is transferred until the end of the season of his 23rdbirthday. The obligation to pay training compensation arises whether the transfer takes place during or at the end of the player’s contract. The provisions concerning training compensation are set out in Annexe4 of these regulations.

It isn't complicated - if we release a player at the end of his contract (without offering him new terms), we won't receive any compensation; it really is that simple.

If he is involved in an international transfer in the future, the club and his other U21 clubs will recieve a solidarity fee. Meaning that if Jordan Davies transfers from ie a British club to Real Madrid in five years for £100m, Brighton will get a million or so, according to UEFA rules.

He should come here btw:

The finance directors at the New South Wales Institute of Sport, Bolton Wanderers, St Mirren and Western Sydney Wanderers will be delighted with the news of Aaron Mooy's transfer today!

Probably yes. Joel Ekstrand moving to Watford back in the day gave us (the club I was a youth coach in) a new training pitch. To a small club, small money means a lot.

That isnt what it says it says about releasing without having a first pro contract we gave them their first pro contract sure we didnt renew it. That is why i said it is complicated.

In any case unless they are playing in the premier league or la liga in 2 years time it isnt going to make a difference.

The Solidarity Mechanism (which applies to every international transfer) relates to training between the ages of 12 and 23, but it applies upon every international transfer until the player retires - HOW AMATEUR CLUBS CAN BENEFIT FINANCIALLY FROM THE TRANSFER OF FORMER PLAYERS WHO ARE NOW EMPLOYED AS PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES
