[Football] League Two do you promote Barrow ?

Since the demise of Bury FC as we know L2 consists of 23 clubs so therefore with The National League 'ended' do you promote leaders Barrow to get back to 24 teams in L2 with no play-offs although it would leave The National League with 23 clubs that being the case would you then have a play-off between the current leaders of BSN and BSS to decide who becomes the 24th member of the N/Lge ? As you can see you are only pushing the 'odd' number club situation further down the pyramid. It,s of course possible that the governing bodies of these respective leagues are simply waiting to see how many clubs go bust before deciding on how to work this out ? :bigwave::bigwave:

The promotion between the EFL and NL will be for them to decide but Promoting Barrow does fill a void (if I'm allowed to use that word) left by Bury. As to other divisions, it will need to be coordinated. All this talk of promoting Leeds and WBA with no relegation would leave the Championship with two less clubs and therefore each team will have 4 fewer games which affects their income. If they promote extra from League one to compensate and so on, then they need to do the same when the following two seasons or whatever is agreed, the EPL relegate 4 teams so the championship would also have to relegate 4 teams.

If Bury FC exists then I would have thought so, albeit they were removed from the league before lockdown so arguably not.

One thing you can be sure about is it will be a badly argued decision, and probably the last thing anyone imagined.

This notion of promoting teams who happened to be in the promotion spots when the world ended is bobbins, whatever division we're talking about. Its for the birds. You've either got enough points on the board for automatic, or you haven't. We've seen LOADS of instances of teams folding under the pressure and blowing up in the run-in - Leeds have practically turned it into an ART form. So why on earth should they or anyone else be "gifted" promotion just because the wheels stopped turning while they happened to be in a promotion slot ?

Tough shite. Promotion has to be EARNED, not given. End of. Seasons void, try again next year.

I posed that question a while ago. How can they have been expelled from a season that didn’t exist? There is a possibility of the club being resurrected, so could they not be reinstated?

More and more I think finishing this season next year might be the best option. Get over the winter, hopefully there will be a vaccine ... start up again in March '21.

Nope. Let Liverpool have their gong this season - it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to anyone for next season. But "awarding" a promotion to a club that hasn't actually earned it has a far bigger impact for a number of clubs, and carries over ramifications into the following season and beyond.

Its one of the proposals - and none are going to be perfect. There is no perfect solution to all this. But actually promoting clubs on the basis of a snapshot of the League table when there's still a quarter of a season left to play is probably the worst suggestion of the lot.

And therein lie all the reasons and arguments for voiding the season and not having any promotion or relegation; as soon as you think, "Well, perhaps we could just promote xxxxx" then you open a whole can of worms.

Just get over all the crackpot ideas, finishing this season, average points, whatever. Void this season, and start next season (whenever we can) with the same teams in the same divisions as in August 2019.

All the other options carry various complications and ramifications, and this business of finishing the season behind closed doors at neutral venues utterly WRECKS the integrity of the competition.

The least-worst solution is the simplest one. Press the reset button to August 2019, and start anew from there.
