the claim would be tenuous anyway, as according to the article, they took a couple of decades away from the game.

Sheffield
Sheffield FC and Hallam FC are the oldest clubs.

The rivalry still exists although Sheffield FC currently play their home games in Dronfield.

The Hallam ground is still on the same site though, where the first match was played. Oldest ground in world football and an even older cricket ground.

The rivalry extends as these days the Sheffield Collegiate CC (Michael Vaughn, Joe Root, umpire Richard Kettleborough - watch out for his son btw) vs Hallam CC (nobody ever) feud continues.

It's a shame that Wednesday (LOL) are so shit and wanky because Sheffield is a superb city for sport.

Palace, on the other hand, are just a shit stain on the y fronts of world sport, and Parish can **** off.

How can you be the oldest professional club when for 30 years of your 'history' you were amateur? They'll do anything to make themselves relevent

I hope their 10th birthday party wasn't cancelled because of social distancing. Well done them.

Fair play to them up the road. They must be looking forward to celebrating, in 2021, a world record 160 years without a major trophy.

Currently, even the 1905 date makes them the youngest club in the Premier league, without mentioning the 2010 Phoenix rebirth.

Crystal Palace aren't a day over 10 ... and they need to be reminded of this if any ever make this oldest club claim
