Excluding World Cups and other international tournaments - naturally.

If this diversion tactic takes hold I might expand it into a World Cup tournament although I believe the strong favourite and runner up will render such a competition meaningless!

The Rules:-

The programme must be associated with football.

Those are the rules.

Nominees please.

Not sure about 'programme' but from growing up watching Match Of The Day, when they used this for the Goal of The Month competition:

Right that's it, you can all fook off and you're not getting a world cup.

Beautiful Day by U2 was a great choice for the Championship highlights programme a few years ago. I forget the name of the programme or the channel though

Er yes, I think we can say the prohibitive favourite for a World Cup Of competition counts!

Someone's going to get the back of the legs slapped soon.

Thank you Razzoo - you are now the bestest poster in the whole wide world.

I getcha.

Sky used to use this for England games and I still love Saffron, so this is my entry.

The first 7 words of the thread, all you had to read was 7 (seven) words.

You'll be getting a bunch of fives soon, young man.

I'm so sorry. Here's a couple more to make up for not doing so:

Sky Sports Monday Night Football back in the day.

BT Sport Football

Not exactly:-

are they?

I thought I'd be arguing about whether to include Sportsnight or not.

Back Home, the England 1970 World Cup song needs to be included. (provided it fits your criteria, but looking on what you've got so far it should be automatically placed in the semi-final).

Sorry, can’t do that embedding nonsense but I put forward Sculley from the 80s, a sort of Billy Liar on Merseyside. Sculley kept seeing Kenny Dalglish, and dreamed of being a footballer. Theme Tune was ‘Turning the Town red’ by Elvis Costello.

Boys from the black stuff also featured cameo’s from Graeme Souness and Sammy Lee. Can’t recall theme tune though.
