If we can maintain our goal difference of -8 then we will end the season on 47pts. This is a fact that has been scientifically proven.

Obviously not [emoji846]. We’d end with 38pts...

37pts or 38pts is roughly where I expect us to finish.

What the analysis presented in the article confirms is that we are about 10pts down on where we could reasonably expect to be based on the number of points that would normally result from our levels of performance (indicated by long term goals for and against).

For those of us who choose to view this season positively, with belief maintained in Potter, Ashworth and Bloom, these are encouraging thoughts for how the future might unfold.

Too many variables in football for 'Moneyball' type analysis for it to be much more than stat ****.
