Can't believe it but it's pancake day today, that's certainly creped up on us this year

I expect Mrs Crodo will have a batch freshly cooked for when I return home from the office with a an array of excellent toppings to select from but what is your favourite pancake topping?

Creped up! Love it, l see what you did there lol.

Some of ther options on the poll though. I mean, who on earth prefers their pancakes to be served with meat paste or fish?

Now l've said that, no doubt someone will claim to.

There is no 'favourite' as far as I am concerned. There is sugar and lemon. Anything else is a mistake.

Savoury pancakes are making a big comeback. Leroy from work reckons this is the ultimate pancake topper...

Also smoked salmon is a big thing on pancakes nowadays.

My Ukrainian wife's family introduced me to pancakes with a mix of beef and pork mince and sour cream on top- it sounds wrong but it's very very right.

‘Other’ for me

One litre of orange juice, zest of one orange, (finely chopped), orange cut into eighths, four desert spoons of sugar and a dash of lemon juice. Heat in a pan until reduced by half, squeeze and remove orange pieces.

For two pancakes put two ladles of sauce in a dry frying pan and add folded pancakes heat until sauce bubbles, add two shots of cognac and one of Grand Marnier - tilt pan over flame and flambe

Savoury pancakes are one thing - but not on Shrove Tuesday! Pancake Day pancakes include sugar in the pancake mix, so savoury fillings (or any other fillings than sugar and lemon* really) are simply perverse.




*If you're having several pancakes, golden syrup on one of them by way of a bit of a change is permissible.

I am puzzled that some people have shop bought pancakes when it literally takes 2 mins to make your own delicious home made ones.
