He can't have been that old.

Wonderful band: one of the few acts who I've seen twice on the same tour, in fact, I think I saw them on successive nights.

I was only playing one of their albums a couple of weeks ago, they've stood the test of time well.

RIP fella

Top band. Top guitarist. Quite unlike anything else that was around in the late ‘70s.

Born the same year as me

His wife and I follow each other on Twitter - I hadn't realised she was his wife. She'd not made any mention of his illness ... only her tweet today saying that he'd died. It must have been quite sudden or she's very private.

We are all mortal, Max. I'm 62 soon. My dad died at 62. Not a comfortable though.

All the best.

1978 with the Slits and the Buzzcocks at the Lyceum. My first ever gig in London so first hand I ever saw up in the smoke.

Great band, obviously hugely influential. On a personal level I have Andy to thank for my tinnitus. Saw them at The Old Market in Hove when during one song they were bashing up a microwave of all things. Then Andy strummed hard and my left ear went ping! Would have been an accumulation of loud gigs for me but certainly memorable. No hard feelings though. Again, a seminal band.

Only just seen this, very sad

life is like a collage pinned on the wall, you add bits to it and as you get older bits fall off.

Sorry, feel a bit down today
