Can't see a thread on this, but I was worried our angry little man (it's good that we have a conveyor belt bringing in a new angry little man just when the previous one departs) was going to be sent off for what looked like some sort of greco-roman wrestling throw immediately after the Villa player cynically pulled back Propper.

I didn't have the best view of it. Anyone in the East have an opinion on it?

His anger continued post-match, although Warren Aspinall on BBC SCR suggested the Villa player was following him across the pitch giving him some verbals, which caused ALM to lose it a bit, with Lewis Dunk required to drag him away. Potter touched on this post-match on SCR, suggested Maupay needs to learn from this.

He was targeted by the Villa players and his gallic red mist came out. He has to learn from this, he cut a very frustrated figure this afternoon.

The ref did not control Villa’s thuggery and therefore they ramped it up. I suggest there may have been some pisstaking after his miss in the last minute and he snapped. Not condoning it but the ref takes responsibility for losing control of the match imo.

Just said on another thread wonder if the ref will give a post match yellow, he seemed to be receiving something through his ear-piece.

The ref was terrible. How the foul on Mooy wasn’t a booking was a mystery to me....

Was that the one where the player was already on a yellow? There were so many bad tackles where play was waved on that it all got hard to keep up with for me.

I know what you mean....

Villa did make a number of our players look quite weak today though.....

It’s becoming a worry that teams are now bullying us so often, and we don’t seem able to cope with it.

Press Brighton. Foul Brighton. Wind up Brighton. Take points off Brighton.

Everyone's watched the Sheffield Utd game and we don't have an answer unfortunately.

Agree we could be a bit tougher against teams adopting a more physical approach, but competent refereeing would help. Numerous possible yellows for Villa not given today.

Yep we have had a few refs who seem to think pushing and scything down players is legal, we have to step up and match it when it happens.

I thought he was off for kicking their player in added time as we were awarded a free kick for another dreadful foul.

This seemed to stem from the free kick given for a professional foul by Hourihane ..almost got our guy back by the neck ...bit of a ding dong afterwards that Maupay got involved in..shoving one of theirs....various Villa players including Mings who seems to think it’s his right to get involved in every bust up ....as the players moved towards the Villa goal Jack (who seems to have none of the good character of his dad) Grealish obviously said something to Maupay ...minor skirmish ....free kick taken......final whistle shortly after ....players going round shaking hands ..Maupay walks towards Grealish ...hand bags break out ...including England’s finest centre back.....Maupay gets pulled away ...pushed towards the tunnel ..intercepted by Villa player ..all kicks off again ....Dunk grabs Maupay and escorts him to the tunnel entrance.

As an aside I don’t really like Villa..to up themselves

I had a perfect view of it. Their player was all over him, they had a bit of a tussle and Maupay lost his temper and swung him round. But their player made the most of it and didn’t need to fall over like that. Definite yellow, never a red.

Aye agree with all that...then as I said in my post above the after match shenanigans started because of what happened next
