Electra Glide in Blue
Blue Velvet
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
The original Planet of the Apes from 1968 so much better than the remakes imo

Waits to be flamed

The 1968 planet of the apes is very highly regarded and it had the best end scene of any film in cinema history

I watched a film called Frantic the other night with Harrison Ford. 1998 and set in Paris, about trying to find his missing wife. Thought it was very good, but never heard of it before.

Southern Comfort from 1981. A bunch of national guardsman take part in a military training exercise in the swamps of Louisiana. They manage to upset the local Cajuns who then to proceed to bump them off one by one. A ' Deliverance ' like feel but set in the eerie swamps and with an excellent atoms atmospheric Ry Cooder soundtrack. Well worth checking out.

The Vanishing, made in 1988, is a superb movie, and has stayed with me for decades. Absolutely brilliant, shocking and chilling.

I haven't seen the 2019 movie of the same name, and don't know if it is a remake, or just a film sharing the same title.

Edit: Google tells me it is an entirely different premise.

Still in Brighton
Thief (1981) - James Caan at the top of his game. Jewel heist thriller.
To Live and Die in LA (1985) - a young Willem Dafoe, again at his best. Action thriller.

Neither get much of a mention nowadays but they are powerhouse cinema.
