With the clouds of doom gathering and having to shell out for a new oven and decent running shoes for Mrs V I have decided to drown my sorrows before tommorows slaughter with a takeaway from Brooksteed of a couple of pints of Thornbridge Bison APA.... and, bloody lovely it is too ! 5.9% ABV and the world seems a better, softer, fluffier place already.

My dear old dad died a week ago, and I’ve spent a fairly stressful day trying to get ‘arrangements‘ in place (try booking a wake, after a noon cremation, 2 weeks before Christmas..........) and keeping mum on an even keel. I don’t really like ale or brandy, but I’m going to have a bit of both tonight in his memory, after I’ve had a bit of cava with my dinner.

Edit - sorry - not looking for posts of sympathy or trying to derail the thread so please stick to booze.......[emoji106]

Bad luck Dazzer, there is not much anyone can say at this point to make things better, time is a great healer though, but not as fast as you or anyone would like.Try to remember the good times and find solace in old memories when life seemed simpler and easier and did not seem so final or heartbreaking. Best wishes.

I’ve just drunk a bottle of some 8%-odd porter he had (it was much nicer than I expected too)........I probably won’t remember anything at this rate.....thanks, appreciated

Genuine best wishes to you and your family though.

Back to booze.

I’m all over an Elvis Juice having discovered I hate Maldon & Tiptree for a ridiculous reason.

Come on White’s Ex-Newport!

Watching the match on BBC1 and whenever I see them playing, raising a glass of Carmenere to NSC's 'Father of the house'

Wish I had his patience, maturity and genuine goodness of spirit

Don’t apologise. I’m amazed at your strength given how shitty things have been for you recently. I’m only a PM away if you need anything.

On topic I had two lovely pints of Old in the Hand in Hand after re offing stuff for a certain podcast. Yummy.

My heart goes out to you Dazzer. You have had a really terrible time of it these past few years. Here's to your dear old dad.
