Classical playing of the triangle there in deed. However, there has been a more intense sound in rock music using the electric triangle. I'm having trouble loading the videos but will keep trying.

Lawrence Killian and Leopoldo are the percussionists featured on Lonnie Liston Smith's "Expansions" so presumably one of them played the much sampled triangle intro..

the 70's was crazy enough that i thought this might be a thing, so looked it up. turns out it is. sort of.
