Any one else suffered/suffering a rasping chesty cough?

How long did it last and what are your remedies, prescribed or otherwise.

I’m through my first week and it’s now becoming extremely irritating [emoji35]

I have had a chesty cough since 2011 when I stopped smoking.
Xrays show all clear. Doctor can't find anything. A scan earlier this year showed some lung damage due to smoking which according to the specialist can take another 10 years to repair :( cough cough!

Zane Hellas Greek wild essential Oregano Oil (min 86% Carvacrol).

£20 on Amazon. 4 drops in a teaspoon of olive oil (do NOT take it neat or it will burn you).

Absolutely amazing stuff.

note - warning it tastes pretty vile and you will smell of pizza but it's a price well worth paying.

You've been lucky... I'm starting my third week with the bloody cough. No other symptoms other than a late-season bout of hay fever. If it goes into next week, it's the docs for me

Thanks for this recommendation, order in and we will see if it works.

Edit, how long before it takes effect?

You're a bit late for this, went round my work like wildfire in September.

Had a cough for a couple of months a few years ago, around this time of year. I didn't bother going to the docs because I thought it would go. When I eventually went, I got prescribed some antibiotics and it cleared it up in a couple of days.

Might work for you, or it might just have been coincidence/luck for me, but I'm just putting it out there...

I am worried about the docs as they have a moan up about using antibiotics etc, if it’s still around in a week I’ll head in.

Usually fairly healthy but had a shocking cough around 3 weeks ago that was amongst the worst I've had - just non stop. Thought it might have been bronchitis. It's taken a couple of weeks to get over and lo and behold it's back this week so good luck! You have my sympathy.

Monday night was the worse I had a really bad fit where I was coughing so much I was struggling for air [emoji40]I ended up downstairs sat upright all night and didn’t sleep. Managed a few hours last night, I haven’t had a cough like this for a few years

Pretty quickly!

Just be careful to read the instructions. I put a teaspoon of olive oil in a shot glass, 4 drops (this is a high dose, recommend you start with two drops). Neck it like a shot, follow with a glass of room temp water. Never ever have it neat.

You'll need to read up on how many times a day. If I'm really unwell I'll go up to four times (short term only).

Stuff of the Greek gods. It's my first call before anything else, especially if I think I might need antibiotics.

I would never normally bother – hence partly why I left it so long*– but the speed at which it cleared up was amazing!

Hope it clears soon, regardless of remedy.

Day 15 now. Started as head cold, went to my chest and left me with this dry, tickly cough which is annoying everybody and waking me up. I've got the gritty eyes and lethargy to go with the sleep deprivation as well. I hate this time of year with all the virusy, fungally stuff...cough.......cough cough choke!
Finally manged to gob up some bostik contact adhesive:mad:

They will say it’s a virus blah blah blah....demand the antibiotics...I’ve had what you’ve got the last few winters ...went on for months...finally prescribed them and boom sorted
