I have seen them at old Wembley on the Bridges to Babylon tour. I was at the front and when sympathy was played it was incredible to turn round and see 90,000 fans all go woohoo in unison throughout.

Marvellous scenes.

Still like Paint it black better...

There’s a WORLD of difference between a best song ever and a favourite song ever, but many people don’t understand the difference

Interesting. So who decides what is the best song ever?

Interesting. So who decides what is the best song ever?

I suspect no one!

Most popular song ever could be decided if there was a culture section in the next National Census.
Every person could answer:
What is your favourite song?
What is your favourite film?
Etc...

When ITV do their ‘Top 20’ Beatles/ABBA/80s songs programmes, they actually only poll around 250 people!!!

And sympathy for the Devil, Gimme shelter, Fool to cry, Midnight Rambler (could go on and on) Although I do struggle with Start Me Up, ever since Theresa May used it as her introduction at the Tory Party conference

Interesting. So who decides what is the best song ever?

A shiny demon.

“Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,
We was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon.
In the middle of the road.
And he said:
"Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul)
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
And we each said. "Okay."
And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World.”

It’s good but I’d argue that there are Oasis B-sides that are better. But it’s all down to personal preference, of course.

It isn't even as good as Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment. Fact.

Edit: I see that someone said it isn't a competition. I agree with that.

Someone else said it's all a matter of personal taste. That is also true.

If you want to start a thread about whatever music you happen to be listening to, invoke a niche genre for it and describe it as 'lovely' and invite others to contribute their lovely.

Otherwise the threat will be USELESS without a poll.

Because he's probably pissed, and when you are pissed things become more absolute.

It's definitely a good song.. The best song ever written changes, depending on my mood.

Spot on Pogue..

You are on the wrong thread, this is about Stones songs not a wannabe Beatles (John Lennon) tribute band

Is it simply the greatest song ever written.
The tune is great and the lyrics are even better, but on the basis that it also sounds as though Jim'll Fix It has given keys of a real life steam train (and it's ****ing whistle) to an over-enthusiastic three-year-old, no.

As the mists of the Siren Soundwave and Elvis clear.......... I think it might actually be ‘You can’t always get what you want’ folks.

Oasis don’t even sound like The Beatles, although they are better than the Stones.

Sympathy For The Devil is not even in the top 20 songs of all time. But it’s all a matter of personal preference.
