In a time when we hear figures of 100k, 200k per week as seemingly average wages for top premier league players* (and 300+K for Sanchez), it feels like 800k across 25 premier league players (avg 32k) is a not a lot. Not wanting to burden you with a lot of work, do you happen to have readily available a handy chart that puts it more in context of wages across the board, rather than as a standalone figure (e.g. a table of weekly wages by club) and/or a reminder of how that compares to their income

(*I accept that palace don't really have a lot of top players, (or simply players on top player wages, in the case of Benteke). Take Benteke and Zaha out of that, and it's what? 550k over the other 23 players (avg 24k)? I also accept these are, in comparison to 'the working man' or 'us in the real world', all obscenely large figures.)

They are losing £800k per week.

I e incomings minus outgoings = loss

So presumably they have a lot of players on top money

Paul Barber told us recently that The Albion will report a loss when our figures come out soon. He said it was due to us not cashing in on our best players.

Still seems incredible when £150m from the premier league is still not enough.

It’s losses of 800k/week, not wages isn’t it ?

But that's the point about the mirage that is the Premier League isn't it? Sure membership is worth £120m + pa to clubs but then you have to spunk similar amounts to just get to the base line of competitiveness.

Still predicted to be losing £42m a year then, despite getting £50m for Obi-Wan Bissaka (over a 5 year deal, so presumably they'll be getting £10m a year from Man Utd). Maybe they'll have to cash their chips in on the SEGW soon, he's not getting any younger. Or better.

It just goes to show that no matter how much money a club can lay its mitts on - it will spend it and still want more. Doesn't matter if you're Palace or Bolton or Bury. Or yes, even us. If Sky suddenly doubled the amount of money they gave to the PL there would be a short-term period of overall profitability, but within a couple of years clubs would be spending it all and running at a loss. Again.

At least the £100m+ new stand, that started construction last December, will generate some income when the building work ends.

It shows they need to cut back on all the cladding that they are famous for.
