I would argue that it should've been like that from the beginning.
In physical sports where size makes a difference there's a good reason for separating men's and women's competitions but why would you do that with art where it's a level playing field

I wouldn’t say lap it up. It’s more to do with the fact what Sam Smith wants to identify as has zero impact on my life. If that’s what Sam Smith wants to do then fine. That said, I do have an interest in why they’re identifying and expressing themselves like this but this is part of a much broader social interest I have.

Perfectly logical solution . Can see sporting events moving in the same direction so that eventually Men's and Women's competitions are merged .
Shame for fans of Ladies Tennis and athletics .
At least Caster Semenya would be happy....
