Great point.
What are they going to do at Stamford Bridge now? A platinum Coutts card doesn’t fly nearly as accurately as a sharpened pound coin.

Meh. I hate carrying cash, so phone/card payments are much more convenient for me.
Sorry my point was that people are less likely to have loose change (or any change for that matter) if they haven't gotten a tenner out to spend on a pint.

The tea bar in the NW corner stopped taking cards a couple of seasons ago and only takes cash. You can see the young kiddies behind the counter looking at the amount of change they need to give you and then count it out very slowly. Makes the q much longer.

Technology changes and charities will (have to) change with it. Soon it'll be "tap to give a pound for homeless donkeys" or the like.
You could change bank/credit card provider? There is no discount available anywhere for loyalty to a poor/expensive service.
I am a big fan and there are relatively few disadvantages to paying by phone and using card and pin as a fallback for me.
It is okay though to say, you just don't like the idea and like it even less that it is being foisted on you.
I was at the re-opened Leonardslee Gardens yesterday where they had mobility scooters available at reception for those unable to walk around the hilly gardens and they have gone cashless.
It is of course entirely possible that we will return to using crowns, shillings grouts and farthings, but I better not go any further with that one, or I risk derailing the thread.

You can transfer money to other individuals in seconds already and if we went fully cashless this would only improve. the argument of having a £100 + device to do it would be relevant if it wasn't also a phone, camera, internet device, map, music player, porn viewer etc etc.
Technology is moving at pace and even more basic phones has NFC, security etc so it isnt just the latest flagship phones that give this access.
There was uproar when cheques got cancelled as the elderly wouldn't be able to cope.
Cash is not free to the shop that has to process it all. Cashless could bring prices down in the long run....

Vast majority of cards issued now are contactless. It's the GOONS that INSIST on still using their PIN (probably not realising their card is contactless) that get on my wick. Virtually all banks offer prepaid or limited contactless cards for kids now too, so this shouldn't be an issue either. Won't be long before cash more or less disappears as a means of payment for basic stuff like this

To your first point, yes it is as you hand over cash and the server has to dig out the change and hand that back! Most people don't make mistakes keying in the pin and most will be below the £30 limit anyway so contactless.
#BarberOut says in the release that “...a majority of our fans are already paying by card...”, so I wonder just how much faster the queue will be.
If everyone does this where are us dodgy builders going to unload our cash ?

It's much easier to sharpen a Visa Card than it is to sharpen a pound coin though.
I have a contactless card because I asked for one. I'm perfectly happy with it
