[Albion] Negative vibes today...

I know this is a personal experience and I know that several posters have been chastised for moaning and doing nothing about it but I was gutted by how much negativity I experienced at and around the ground today.

Some was down to away fan nonsense but some was down to our own fans lack of resilience and perspective. Some, I’m sure, was just bad luck.

Firstly we had some away fans near us who had got into a home section. When Andone did what he did, they were full of expletive laden outrage, right in front of a young kid, who clearly looked distressed.

Several home fans had a word appropriately and they apologised profusely. Then when dunk (nearly) scored, 3 prats went straight at them and went well over the top, starting a fight right in front of the poor kid who looked like he never wanted to go to a footy match again. I get that the away fans had it coming but seriously, there was a child less than a foot away and he looked f****** terrified.

We alerted the stewards and the away fans were removed, but the way the group of home fans went for them was well over the top in an area full of kids.

After the match, walking back to the bridge car park, some geezer (home fan) pokes us (me and the wife) on the shoulder and starts giving us abuse for trying to calm the situation. One in particular started bleating that women are ruining the game, women refs are all wh****s etc. It was properly intimidating. Unfortunately we were passed the station and there were no stewards to alert at that point.

Then we get to the car park and after letting out a couple of cars in front of us, some bloke (again a home fan with a BHA number plate) lost the plot and started screaming at us in his Chelsea tractor. He nearly took the front bumper off our car and threatened to do all sorts of nasty things to us, just for letting others out first.

I’ve always been proud to support a team with a fan base that has a good sense of humour, perspective and resilience. At the withdean, there was always a great bunker mentality, but since the middle of last season I’ve experienced irrational, hostile behaviour on several occasions. I just don’t recognise this as a long term season ticket holding fan.

So where am I going with this....am I just another moaner.....

No, I hope not, we tried to take the aggro out of the situations we were faced with and I urge all other true Albion fans to do the same.

If you see this kind of nonsense going on, don’t turn a blind eye. Step in, report it, or if that’s not possible stand with those who are being threatened. It’s 2019 and we should be able to attend a sporting event involving a team we’ve supported all our life without this kind of bull**** going on.

I’m really enjoying the start to the season. It’s exciting. We’re going to win some, we are going to lose some, but why do we need to tolerate arse****s who can’t take the rough with the smooth.

Rant over.

Sorry to hear that.

With the incredible CCTV in the stadium, the attackers may well be collared and possibly receive life bans.

Genuinely, luckily I never seem to see trouble at The Amex. Friends have seen Albion to Albion fisticuffs in the NS in the last couple of seasons, typically over an Albion player condemned versus loved.

I’d always help out someone being bullied, even if it means snitching to the stewards.

Sadly I’m not sure it’s any more than just 21st century England, aggression, lack of manners, and a pathetic macho confrontational attitude from certain sections of the society we live in.

Sounds like a throughly unpleasant afternoon for you.

T’was indeed, and I tend to agree on the current climate point.

I’ve had many an amazing day out supporting the Albion, home and away. I’m a big boy and the wife is a hard northerner (converted to a genuine seagull).

My point is that this kind of aggro seems to be on the rise and I implore all BHA fans, NSC regulars or otherwise, to stand up to this kind of nonsense and call it out.

It’s the third game of the season ffs and I spent all afternoon trying to stop fights or fend of angry fans of our own persuasion. I’m sure it’s worse now than at any point of the last 10 years or so.

Really surprised to hear this, especially in reference to home supporters.
1. You'll always get some yahoo kicking off, because we lost.
2. Bridge St car park is always full of F1 grid specialists, trying to get out 0.0000000001 of a second before others.
3. The car park gurus always start performing their magic tricks and disappearing, when there is any sign of aggro.
4. If in doubt, blame the heat.

Dont let some tw@t ruin your day

It's pathetic how bothered people get by away fans.

You'd think they were terrorists the way fans jump on them for sitting in the wrong end. Yes the Saints fans were stupid for making a scene over the sending off but it's no way even comparable to the bellendry shown by those fans who then went down there and attacked them. What are they expecting? The stand to give them a standing ovation for fighting the enemy? I bet they're now feeling like the toughest guys in town and I bet their semi posh sussex accent has suddenly gone a bit east London too. This isn't an era issue or an age problem. There's just some complete twats out there who'd do anything which involves avoiding bravery to look like a tough guy. In this case mobbing up and attacking a few fans over absolutely nothing.

This too many people think they are ted tough and want to turn everything into a punch up. Most of them melt when confronted but these days that can be a dangerous game. Whatever happened to manners?

At 80 mins a bloke and his 20s son got up to leave 3 rows in front of us in the NW, ST holders as seen them before. They walked along and then stopped and spoke to someone mid game blocking the view of the people in front of us. The man sitting down in front asked the youth to move on as he was blocking his view.

The youth kicked off f'ing and blinding as he went off. The dad joined in who was just in front of his son. As they went down the stairs the kid was giving the bloke sat down the :tosser: sign.

What a complete and utter bellend and the dad for joining in and encouraging his son.

They’re not “sitting in the wrong end”. They’ve bought tickets fraudulently. Unless they have a Brighton purchase history in which case they’re two team Tarquins. Either way I’d release the hounds on them.

Does that really bother you?

These sort of things remind me of being at school when someone grasses up another student for stealing a pen. This tribalism crap definitely goes a bit too far in some peoples minds. It's a bloody game of football. Nothing more, nothing less. Whatever end you sit at, I just hope you enjoy the game.

Yes. They’ll have stopped Brighton fans getting those tickets. It’s not rugger anyway old boy. Sit in your own end or **** off. #ReleaseTheHounds

A policeman was talking about this on the radio recently. He’s seen a rise in aggression over the last 20 years, including an unbridled ‘confidence’ to attack the police, other emergency services personnel or hospital staff. Many males and some females now have an in-your-face aggression.

He put it down to:
a) An awful lot of people of all ages now take cocaine, methamphetamine, or similar.
b) Many people have dabbled or more in MMA or similar sports, or are into lifting big weights often on steroids.

Creating supermen in their minds.

It's really not just England, same could be said of a certain section of society in most countries
