Anything from The Singing Detective soundtrack works for me, a Dennis Potter surrealist classic. Don’t Fence Me In, Dry Bones, Accentuate the Positive, The Teddy Bears Picnic, You Always Hurt the One You Love, I Get Along Without You Very Well etc. So many Ink Spots faves, the NS would love it.
