That's a bit harsh on HW'sT...there's the odd (usually very odd) jem in there although his musical taste as a teenager/20 something was actually quite conventional - where did it all go so strange I wonder??? and why???

How very kind. I just kept listening to more things, and still do

Jah Wobble of course leads me to this little gem. Back in the summer of 1983, this was one of four or five best tracks that blasted out of the best clubs in Vancouver, that will never leave me.

After Magazine broke up and Devoto went solo, John McGough went of with the Banshees, although it's little Robert Smith on this track. I have this album but had not seen the DVD. Hairs up on back of neck time, especially the start.

Quite a lot of Minimal Compact's stuff has been released on Mute, with John Fryer productions. Here is another of his bands (albeit this is produced by someone else): Hunters and Collectors. I absolutely love these boys but after the press drooling about them, a move to London, a Conny Plank production and no sales, they moved back to Australia. Years later Mark Seymour became famous for a cover of one of his somgs (that I have posted on another thread - not here though...)

I'll stay in Australia but go back to the early 70s for this sublime bit of prog rock. This has everything, psychedelic lyrics, spooky middle bit, and then a hystrionic guitar solo led crechendo finale, just like all music was supposed to be, innit :lolol:

Mmmmm guitars....so punk made guitar solos and big guitar noise redundant for me from 76 till....well till U2 and Killing Joke. I have already posted a track by the Edge (the snakecharmer track) so I won't post any U2 (was that a huge sigh of relief I just heard? ???). So here is some second phase KJ. Some people don't get the repeat riffing at the end.....I find it mesmerizing, especially when they add an extra beat. I just can't play along with that on my guitar, dammit. And God knows I have tried :lolol:

After that I am posting the hymn to Paul Raven RIP (tears).

Nope.

First a message to the OP Swansman. Thanks for starting this thread. I like what you have posted. I haven't heard any of it before.

Rap isn't something I gravitate towards, although I admit to owning an old MM CD that has a few tracks on it that can only be described as stunning. I am not going to piss all over the thread by immediately going wildly off topic (like I did non the New Order thread - ahem - albeit that wasn't wildly, just inappropriately, soz). I will wander off gently, but will start off in the spirit of the first music.

Right, with all the legals out of the way.....I rather like this crazy and rude lad. Mrs T has seen him live at ATP:

Yeah but no poll. You must be gutted.

Errr... isn't the request for music originating from Brighton? If so, I'll add a load once I get home.
If I've misunderstood; as you were - carry on.

The request was really for people to post music they have made themselves, like I did : )

But you know, good is also good so its fine.

Started in 82, these still play live and release albums. There are far too many brilliant tracks to choose from. The first is an old track from the 80s played live recently. Me and Mrs T saw them on this tour. Unbelievable. One of my favourite minimalist guitar solos, late on. The second track is much newer and is my little brother's (who adores AATT) favourite AATT track.

Alright, I am trying to post stuff people may like some of which they may have missed. The Burning Skies of Elysium and Lowlife are two late 80s bands who, despite extreme loveliness, got nowhere because they weren't of their time. They sound brilliant to me, now. Two very different and very distinctive singers. Here is one track by each.

Ah, the jangly guitar.....it still features in many genres.....here are two more examples of extreme loveliness, but much more recent. The Bell Hollow (2007) are American, and Paralysed Age (2100 track) are a German band. These bands are part of my re-engagement with The New, after spending a few years working hard and not really reaching out to new stuff.
