Digging around, it does seem that Arce has been loaned out again rather than sold. So then we currently have...

U23s

Alexis Mac Allister (CAM) to Boca Juniors (Argentine Primera Division)
Ben White (CB) to Leeds United (Championship)
Leo Østigård (CB) to FC St Pauli (2. Bundesliga)
Christian Walton (GK) to Blackburn Rovers (Championship)
Jayson Molumby (CM) to Millwall (Championship)
Robert Sánchez (GK) to Rochdale (League One)
Jan Mlakar (ST) to Queens Park Rangers (Championship)
Billy Arce (LW) to Barcelona SC (Ecuadorian Serie A)

U18s

Carl Rushworth (GK) to Worthing (BetVictor Isthmian League Premier)

For those of us who turned up at the Goldstone watching the reserves with excitement as we got a Sunderland reject on trial, let alone ever paying for someone, this shows how far we have come.

Championship clubs taking our players on loan - developing them for us as well as paying us.

I’d say the master plan is coming along very nicely thanks, whatever division we are in this time next year.

Barcelona s.c in Ecuador, that is...
No, that's definitely an FC Barcelona shirt. So, can we ask for Messi on loan in return?

The question remains, where are these lads going:

Connolly
Gyökeres
Sanders
Alzate
Richards
Băluță
Ahannach

It’s either:

U23
Loan
Sold
Released
1st Team

Can’t see us signing another central midfielder with the young talent we have as back-up.

None of them will be released because they are all contracted to June 2020 or beyond.

Add George Cox and Anders Dreyer to that list - both spent the second half of last season out on loan, though Cox’s time at Northampton was stunted by injury.

I’d have thought given his age now we would be trying to move Ahannach on.

Seeing as we seem to be doing the proverbial Chelsea and sending hundreds of our promising youngsters out on loan, why not have one centralised thread to track their progress as opposed to 20 different ones to bounce sporadically?

So far confirmed season long loans out are:

Alexis Mac Allister (CAM) to Boca Juniors (Argentine Primera Division)
Ben White (CB) to Leeds United (Championship)
Leo Østigård (CB) to FC St Pauli (2. Bundesliga)
Christian Walton (GK) to Blackburn Rovers (Championship)
Jayson Molumby (CM) to Millwall (Championship)
Robert Sánchez (GK) to Rochdale (League One)

Other rumoured loans out include Percy Tau (though not U23) being repeatedly linked to Club Brugge, who are playing in the Champions League this season (which should in theory help him score exception points for a work permit application). Today also our Slovenian striker Jan Mlakar has been linked with a loan move to QPR - https://talksport.com/football/efl/...hampionship-side-close-loan-brighton-striker/

And not to mention a number of other young players on our books who may be being touted for loan moves if Potter doesnt think they are ready yet to play in the PL - the likes of George Cox, Steven Alzate, Aaron Connolly, Max Sanders and Viktor Gyökeres.

As much as people like to moan about the "black hole" of the development squad where players are signed never to be seen again, I think the progress that has been made with the U23s in the last few years is quite self evident and very exciting to see. Hopefully we can report on a number of these players' successes over the coming season!

Thank you, and top marks for use of accents/symbols

Uninformed speculation, but I'm going to guess ...

Connolly - Loan, probably league 1
Gyökeres - u23 / fringes of the first team
Sanders - u23 / fringes of the first team
Alzate - u23 / fringes of the first team
Richards - u23
Băluță- 23 / fringes of the first team
Ahannach - Sold, somewhere abroad
Cox - Loan, somewhere down the leagues
Dreyer - u23's

My information is that there are no loan plans yet for Connolly. The others I agree with. I expect Richards at least to be on the first-team bench until Bissouma is fit again.

I think Richards will be on the fringes of the 1st team, wouldnt be suprised to see him on the bench against Watford.

A promising player. The sense I get is that he might be behind Alzate, Baluta and maybe Sanders to challenge the senior players for a midfield spot.

I wonder if all these loans had been lined up a while ago, and this sudden burst of activity is a result of Potter giving the go ahead, satisfied that he’d seen them all over pre-season enough to make a judgment.

I think we should probably expect two of Alzate, Baluta, Richards and Sanders to go out on loan. They can’t all be the next CM in line, and as it stands they’d be blocking each other from U23 appearances too.

Unless Sanders is now being considered as a RB in all seriousness.
