[Drinking] Tube map shows nearest pub/cheapest pint

Actually it only shows the cheapest pint at the nearest pub, not the cheapest in the vicinity of the station - and even then some pubs didn't respond to the survey, so the compiler just left those stations blank. Prices range from £1.89 to an outrageous £5.55 (remember that's the cheapest pint at that particular pub!)

Just over three quid for a pint of Carlsberg in a pub full of desperate alcoholics and people whose special needs cannot be met by a pint glass and a nozzle dispensing foamy cold beverages. AmexRuislip knows where it is. It's terminal in more ways than one.

I'm quite happy to research the no answer Clapham South area if sponsored by NSC.

"The Cyclist" in Balham is a mildly pretentious revamp of an old Weatherspoons just next to the station on the high street. If you like your beer with a lung full of congestion, it's the place to go.

Personally I couldn't give a stuff about the price as long as the pub is nice. The Devonshire in Balham is a far nicer place with nice food and a garden. The Nightingale even better.

However, Clapham Junction is the best place go for a nice drink, if you walk 5 minutes away from the station up Northcote Road.

They have the poshest fete going. I was up there last weekend and couldn't choose between:

1) The specialist gins ( at least 3 stalls )
2) The Ethiopian food stall or the churros.
3) Which free osteopath posture check up ( 2 competing )
4) The cricket or the tennis, both on screens.

It's a heady mix of the North Laine and Kings Road. You don't know whether to really embrace it or run away VERY VERY FAST.

If you read the Guardian and live in Brighton, I really recommend a visit to Northcote Road, you will feel very comfortable. Imagine a holiday to somewhere very off the beaten track with all the trappings of home.

You know, the Seychelles with free wifi and organic fruit for breakfast. The difference is that Northcote Road is 5 minutes walk from Clapham Junction and you will back home in an hour.

I live within 20m of The Bedford. Balham Bowls Club is my pub of choice in the immediate vicinity though.

You're correct in the way of special needs, where some nights it gets so noisy in there (The Three Tuns), you resort into some sort of Olympic tourette shouting at each other.
Very weird, but funny when drunk :lolol:

Really, don't you feel the need to wash and throw away your shoes when leaving that pub ? If ever there was a pub that needed a refit.

As for me i couldn't give a shit about how nice the pub is or how hipster it looks.. A cheap bitter served right is all i ask for.
