seems useful, biggest concern for me is that muggers may now slit your hand open to try and get your chip.

One of my European workers lost her ID last week and panic set in. When I explained that us Brits do not have to carry ID she couldn't believe it. "What if you get stopped by the police, don't you have to show something to prove who you are?". "Nope", I said, "we live in a free country".

It’s the thin end of the wedge - if this takes over from credit cards, loyalty cards etc my poor wife will be carrying around the equivalent of a kilo bag of rice inserted in her hand.
