Netball is coming home this Friday as the 15th Netball World Cup kicks off in Liverpool.

This years edition promises to be a particularly special one for Vitality Roses coach Tracey Neville. It was only 2 short years ago as England suffered a humiliating home series defeat to Uganda, England were booed off the court in the final game by their loyal fans and chants of 'getting sacked in the morning' and 'you don't know what you're doing' reverberated around the Copper Bowl. Neville did know what she was doing however and England Netball resisted the calls from fans and pundits to put her out of her misery and dismiss her. The decision for continuity paid dividends handsomely last year as England famously clinched the Commonwealth gold against the heavy favourites and host nation Australia. Neville is hanging up her coaching leotard at the end of the World Cup and what finer way to sign off than to win the holy grail of the World Cup in your home country.

:O

Tickets for all of the Vitality Roses games have been sold out for months and the babes will be backed with a raucous and partisan home crowd roaring them to glory. A really tough opener on Friday night against African heavywieghts Uganda, who themselves have got a big celebrity endorsement from former WWF superstar and Ugandan giant Kamala.

Come on girls, you can do it.

Have you seen the SIZE of the Aussie captain? Surely being the tallest woman in the WORLD is CHEATING.

They are definitely in with a shout, but the top four have been beating each other with some regularity now...

Anyway I am working many of the players on www.sportyparents.com/netball with events in Brighton and Southampton, so please spread the word...

It’s so boring. Not even WOMEN can be arsed to watch this. There may be world cups these days for everything but let’s face it, there’s only one WORLD CUP. Everything else, well, if the BBC can afford to screen it...

Helen Housby makes it worth watching. So does Iona Darroch, but I'm not sure she's getting England recognition.

Live on BBC and Sky, Uganda coming into form at the right time. Let’s hope for no fluffing Thor lines from the Vitality Roses tomorrow night.

Australia always win it. England always gets third or fourth.

Will there have been any international tournament that the UK won't have hosted, apart from the World Cup, in the previous ten years come the end of 2020 ?
