Yes, incredible.

I was, sort of, responding to Ninja saying that Herzog would just fall apart after that. She didn't, which meant that Gauff had to dig even deeper.

What a superb match.

The answer's in this article. It's essentially the same consideration bowlers in cricket give to the condition of the ball which affects its performance when bowling, hence why they polish it and in some cases tamper with it.
