That is true, for everything except offside, which is a binary yes/no decision. It is how VAR has been used from the start, we just don’t know about it here because we are very late in using it.

Was clearly a pen. Slightest nick on the inner knee is enough to make you miss the ball... and stop a goal scoring opportunity ... pen

Yes, it was borderline. But it was offside. Marginally.

My point was that I don't think they use 'clear and obvious error' when checking for offside, they just decide if it is or isn't.
