Brilliant. Southampton, to give them some credit, do have some history in this regard;

When James Beattie signed for Everton in January 2005, chairman Dixie Dean said the move would make Beattie the next Dixie Dean.

The reality:
Dixie Dean - 349 goals and club legend.
James Beattie - 13 goals.
Good trick as he died in 1980.

Top performance by Dean, to be fair, given that he died in 1980. Could this be an example of art imitating labour? ???

When James Beattie signed for Everton in January 2005, chairman Dixie Dean , via top medium John Edward, said the move would make Beattie the next Dixie Dean.

The reality:
Dixie Dean - 349 goals and club legend.
James Beattie - 13 goals.

Edited.

The best type of signing announcement is when a player joins, comes in through the back door, no fanfare, no big media razzmatazz, is selected for the first league game of the season, bangs in a hat-trick and leaves the field to rapturous applause. Unexpected wonderment rather than damp squib realisation.

Saints have just signed Ings for 20 million. Ouch.

Liverpool have received £15m from Bournemouth for Jordon Ibe, £25m from the same club for Dominic Solanke, and now £20m from Saints for Ings.

They must laugh their heads off when a south coast club comes asking :ohmy:

My thoughts exactly, no doubt they will pinch Ake for about 25 million at some point.
