Still dream of Ashley Barnes one day coming back into the Albion fold. Sadly was the same old Albion striker story: ship out the very decent ones earlydoors, hang on to the duffers forever.

Barring injury/suspension, Ashley Barnes will score 15+ PL goals this coming season, with Chris Wood not that far behind. Meanwhile we'll be giving Locadia and Andone WAY too many opportunities to reach even half that total. Because, guess what, now they're apparently 'unshackled'. Righty ho. IMHO they're not going to be troubling the judges very often at this level this season. Same as last season really.

Should know enough by end of September and the first tranche of winnable games. Tho some of us know enough already.
A B S O L U T E L Y.

Locadia playing as a make shift wing back should have SCORED at minimum 30!!! Given the undoubted quality he has.

Barnsey edges it:

Barnes Premier League
18-19 2837 minutes 12 goals
17-18 2157 minutes 9 goals
16-17 1776 minutes 6 goals
TOTAL 6770 minutes 27 goals = 1 goal every 251 minutes

Rashford Premier League
18-19 2343 minutes 10 goals
17-18 1804 minutes 7 goals
16-17 1702 minutes 5 goals
TOTAL 5849 minutes 22 goals = 1 goal every 266 minutes

Kind of ignoring the fact that Rashford was stuck out on the left wing for most of that time. Still rate Barnsey though.

Over the last three seasons in the Premier League

Marcus Rashford
100 games
22 PL goals

About to sign a £200k a week contract on the back of it.

Ashley Barnes
101 games
27 PL goals

Sunday league standard at best...apparently.

Yes but think how much more Rashford brings to the game. All those assist. Barnes meanwhile just stands around picking his nose.

Hmmmm I'd say Ashley Barnes ably demonstrates that hype has nothing to do with tangible ability. He is so un-flair in every sense, sure he tried to up the flair level by declaring for Austria, but BOY did he hit the unfashinable button on the nose by joining an unfashionable club, with an unfashionable (ginger) manager and footballing ethos.

He aint going to be driving to training in a jelly suspension proffering pimped ride from the Bronx, he probably takes the number 62 from Stalybridge.

There's no dry ice nor dwarf's on stilts juggling miniature versions of the PL trophy in Ashley's world, he's all about cold hard reality and facts. The fact is, he's better than Rashford at what he does, scoring goals. Man Utd could do worse than building a team around his ethic, his tenacity and his actual ability. Brilliant player, and if there was any justice in this world, he'd be the one joining Utd for £50 million.

Alas, akin to a lost classic album from the world of early 70s rock - he'll only be appreciated in 30 years when people realise there was more going on than the back cat of Led Zeppelin. Sigh.

Since you ask, he's even ditched his Smart Car. He and Ashley Westwood have clubbed together to buy a people carrier (though even on Burnley wages, you'd have thought they could have had one each) and 8 players all come up for training from Cheshire together each day.

(Barnes was booked on Saturday, incidentally. In a friendly v. Wigan. That's not easy to do! Only been sent off once for Burnley, though.)

I think this could make for a very interesting post to come back to in May...

Locadia has looked pretty unshackled to me in the pre season games. Even Potter, reading between the lines, thinks the same.

To be honest, thats just gone and f*cked all over the OP's original post. If we're meant to believe that Barnes is better than Rashford, well its just been proved that Murray pisses on the pair of them.

So its the Albion recruitment team that's clearly lording it over our friends from the north in this case :p

Will believe it when I see it v PL opposition. Saw very little to suggest he could hack it at this level last season. Said it before, say it again: Unshackled My Arse. And once again: Try Watching What You're Seeing. He's yet another stupidly overpriced Dutch dud.
